"Sentience" was hand-carved from a piece of Wyoming nephrite Jade.

Note from the Artist: Recently I was walking my dog on the beach after a surf. This particular beach is north of a pier that is rocky and teaming with life. In contrast, the beach is all sand with minimal critter activity. As we walked and played in the sand and water I noticed slight movement on a pile of washed up seaweed. I took a closer look and to my amazement, it was a baby octopus, about 2 1/2 inches in length. I panicked thinking it was dead. I bent down to pick up the cephalopod and it wrapped itself around my fingers. I was in shock due to the rare and astonishing experience. I just watched “My octopus Teacher” and was over the moon to be having my own fleeting relationship with this incredubal being. Walking into the lapping waves, I placed the lil thing into the water and it crawled once more up my hand and took a good look at the strange creature holding it. The octopus then swam off into the blue waters. This experience inspired me to create a little octopus of my own in jade. This Pendant is designed as a cephalopod swimming away.

The Cord: This piece is strung on a polyester/nylon blend cord with hand-carved beads of the same jade, that slide to adjust cord length. The length range of this cord is about 15-30,” but this varies, so please call us if you need your cord to be specifically tailored to you at no extra charge.
