"Abalone Shell" is carved out of Canadian Jade from the Cassiar Mine. This piece is strung on brown nylon cord with hand-carved beads of the same jade, one to accent and two that slide to adjust cord length.

Note from the Artist: As a child, my father taught me how to fish and hunt abalone. He was taught by his father and his father had taught him, and so on and so forth. Fishing is a traditional pastime in my family. We are taught to honor the water and the fish, to be a steward of the land and sea so that we all may enjoy and feed our families for generations to come. This design is inspired by that tradition that is no longer continued, but it will live on through this creation.
