“Seahorse” was hand-carved from Canadian Yukon Jade and strung on black nylon cord with a hand-carved accent bead and matching sliding beads for adjusting cord length.

Note from the Artist: This design was inspired by a dear client of mine, as well as an homage to one of my teachers. This carving was challenging because of its symmetrical design and the detail of the fine line featured from crown to tail.

This jade is a Canadian nephrite from the Yukon Territory, mined by my dear friend, Roger Krichbaum. Roger is an old-school rock hound and a miner of hard rock for more than 30 years. Many of the mines in Canada have now been purchased by the Chinese, so we are lucky that Roger provides North American jade to us North American carvers, from his own mine. He is a well-known character, a vibrant presence and pillar of support in the jade community. We are eager to support him by carving his beautiful jade.
