Siberian Jade Celt
Siberian Jade Celt
The Jade: This piece was hand carved into a pendant from Siberian Nephrite jade.
This pendant measures approximately: 2 1/2” L x 7/8” W x 1/4” D
Hand-carved in 2024.
The Celt: My grandfather, the catalyst of my work in jade, has been modeling his work after this shape for decades and I have chosen to continue this collection as an homage to him, as well as a nod to the roots of this primitive craft. Though there are many variations of this shape, they are all inspired by the same ancient tool of The New Stone Age, and later, tools of the same general design created during the Bronze Age. The celt is described as “a polished stone ax or adz head designed for attachment to a wooden shaft and probably mainly used for felling trees or shaping wood. Great numbers of celts have been discovered in sites in the British Isles and Denmark; they were obviously traded widely” (Britannica).
The Cord: This piece is strung on a gold nylon cord with sliding knots for adjusting the cord length with ease. The length range of this cord is about 15-30,” but this varies, so please call us if you need your cord to be specifically tailored to you at no extra charge.
Complimentary Cord Replacement: Our nylon cord is highly durable; built to withstand years of adventure! Should your cord need repair or replacement, you’re in luck! This pendant comes with a complimentary cord repair/replacement for life! You only pay for the shipping to get it to us - we will do the work and ship it back for free!
All elements of this creative process are unique to each individual piece. All processes performed by us are done so by hand, with the aid and precision of electric hand tools… Please expect variation, as these products are 100% one-of-a-kind works of art.
