The Stone: This design was inspired after finding the stone in the rivers of Northern California in mid-2016 and imagining the essence of a moonlit mountainside from one angle and a feature of a flowing river from another. The goal was to use as much of the natural rind of the stone as possible, since it is so beautifully characteristic on its own.
It was executed in the fall of 2016 for the International Jade Carving Competition in Suzhou, China.
The Base: Northern California Redwood base.
