The Jade: Found in the beautiful Mendocino National Forest, this piece of blueish green Nephrite Jade was buried under a small sapling right at the entrance to my grandfather’s claim. On my belly I could see just a glimmer of blue through the damp sand and dense branches. It reminds me of a lion’s head, or some brave protector, looking on stoically. I named this piece on that merit.
This unique piece of California Jade is natural and uncarved. It has a calm aura about it and is very smooth and tactile to the touch. It’s truly nature’s work of art, and I have done my best to present it that way; in the Japanese style called Suiseki ( meaning “viewing stone”).
Found in 2020.
